At Calgary Wedding Planning Co. we find that couple’s tend to have a good idea of what they want as wedding colours but often limit themselves to one, two or three colours. I think that is a great place to start especially when it comes to your bridal party. Having your bridesmaids in five different colors may not really achieve the look we are going for but it is good to keep an open mind when it comes to using multiple colors in your reception design. I recommend choosing a neutral, metallic and one or two accent colors. From there use splashes of color in small ways to add some depth to your design. A great way to do this is through your flowers. There are very few colors of flowers that do not look flattering together and it makes a huge difference to the look of any table. Some other ways to do this is through stationary, napkins and lighting.
Neutrals: White, ivory, champagne, beige, blush pink, gray, black

Accent colors: Any color you can imagine!
Here are some popular color palettes for 2014:
- Gray, silver, baby pink and tiffany blue – Don’t be afraid to add in little pops of fuchsia, purple, teal, yellow
- White, mirrored, navy and red – Don’t be afraid to mix metallic to add a vintage look. Using greenery is always a good addition!
- Ivory, gold, yellow and white – Don’t be afraid to add touches of green and pink into your flowers
- Champagne, gold, purple and fuchsia – Experiment with the different shades of purple and deep pinks as they compliment each other perfectly.
